Semper Singers was originally called Chanterelders and was formed by Sophie Pascall in 2000, taking it’s name from the award winning choir the Chanterelles, many of whom were daughters of the Chanterelders.
After ten years, Sophie handed over the Musical Direction to Sarah Stephens, who went on to lead local several Leicestershire Rock Choirs in 2011.
Chanterelders was then conducted by Matthew Jones until Emma Trounson became our Musical Director in September 2013.
The name of the choir was changed to Semper Singers, in 2015.
The name is taken from the Leicester motto Semper Eadam, meaning always the same.
