What is Semper Singers? Semper Singers is a friendly, welcoming mixed community choir based in Leicester.

What sort of music do they sing? We perform a wide range of music, jazz, musicals, pop, folk, contemporary and light classical.

Do they sing in unison? We sing in parts: Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.

What if I can’t read music? We use sheet music, but you don’t need to be able to read music, although of course it helps.

Do I have to buy my own music? No, you will be lent a pack of sheet music each term.

Will I have to audition? No, we don’t hold auditions all abilities are welcome.

Will I have any help to learn the songs? Yes, members have access to learning tracks to help them learn the songs and Emma teaches us during rehearsals.

When do Semper Singers rehearse? We rehearse on Mondays in term time from 7.15 – 9.00pm.

Where are the rehearsals? Pork Pie Library & Community Centre, Southfields Drive, Leicester LE2 6QS.

Where can I park? There is plenty of free street parking nearby?

How much does it cost? Membership fees are £60 per term.

Do I have to pay to join? There is a joining fee of £15 for which you receive a music folder and a scarf or tie.

What do I need to wear? You can wear whatever you like for rehearsals. We have a concert uniform of black trousers and shirt or black dress and a Semper scarf or tie.

How many concerts are there? We perform in three concerts each year as well as taking part in special events, especially at Christmas.
